CHIC GLAM FOYER - ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

CHIC GLAM FOYER by Splendor Styling

Welcome to Splendor!

I'm very happy to finally share this space with you. The One Room Challenge is a brilliant initiative of Linda from Calling it Home, where 20 bloggers transform a space in only 6 weeks - and everyone can follow along! The creativity and support around it are absolute invaluable! This is my second time participating and I couldn't be happier with the results.

You can see the detail of my progress here, and some before photos that show the huge change in this tiny area. I believe that living in a small space should not be an impediment for living in big style! The entryway gives a first glance of your home's personality, and I definitely wanted this one to be GLAM!

I fell in love with this wallpaper as soon as I saw it online, and even though I was nervous about using it I totally changed my mind when I got the sample. Black and gold is one of my favorite combinations and this one added the perfect amount of glam femininity to the space. To balance it - and avoid giving hubby a heart attack - I decided to go with a very masculine console table with hairpin legs and a black leather equestrian mirror. Looking for the right pieces was a big challenge due to the size of the space, so I decided to contact small manufacturers on Etsy. I had THE BEST experience working with them and got custom and hand-made amazing pieces! I can't thank enough Garrett and Dendro Co for their excellent service.

For accessories I needed to go glam again. I incorporated some texture with a fab marble lamp; and some serious gold with these bull brass hooks by Jonathan Adler. And of course, I placed a faux-fur sheep skin rug for extra coziness. This little space is now functional and gorgeous; AND it's the best spot to place flowers to welcome you home. Oh... and the DIY project I tried. It didn't work as planned so I skipped it.

What do you think?! :) I always love reading your comments and ideas. If you are changing a space at your place and need some help, send me a message or take a look at my services page. I would love to be part of your project!

Thanks so much for passing by! Stay in touch, and stay inspired! xx.

One Room Challenge - Chic Foyer Week V

Welcome to Splendor!

If you are new to my blog, you have to know I've been working on transforming a room in my house in only 6 weeks... and this is the last one! The One Room Challenge is a fab initiative organized by Linda from Calling it Home. Check it out! There's so much talent there :)

So, this is the update of the last week of my project. As you can see in the picture above, I started a last minute DIY project (!) I want to camouflage the thermostat in my foyer and I thought of using a canvas to do it. Hope it works!

Accessories, accessories, accessories. This is what happens when I decorate. I grab everything that catches my eye and bring it home to try it in the space. I LOVE styling and I'm always trying to find new ways to arrange interesting objects. Best part, I can return everything if it doesn't work as I wanted :)

Also this week, the mirror went up! I love how it looks. It's a big masculine statement on a very much feminine wallpaper. I LOVE IT! And can't wait to show you how it changed the whole space!  Table also arrived, light fixture is up and my lamp got here!! Lots of progress but still A LOT to get done. This is still my TO DO list for this last days:

  • Place hooks on the wall
  • Finish DIY and try it on
  • Style everything!
  • Schedule photoshoot (I just made it happen today! Yay!)

And because the foyer changed the look of the whole apartment, now I can't stop thinking of working everywhere else! I think I might start with the living area :) I have so many plans for the space... can't wait to start!

So, this is it. Next post will be the big reveal! STAY TUNED FOR NEXT THURSDAY!!  Can't wait to share it with you all. Thanks for passing by! xx.

One Room Challenge - Chic Foyer Week IV

My reflection on a Kelly Wearstler mirror at High Point Market Spring 2015

I can't believe is week 4 of the One Room Challenge!

This project has been tons of fun as it's a space that sets the mood for our tiny apartment. Foyers are crucial in any home, right?

WARNING - This is going to be a quick post... i've been feeling under the weather these days. If there's anything tough about living in the DC area is allergy season :( and in my case it just gets worse. So, straight to business.

I had the best experience looking for key pieces on Etsy. This equestrian mirror is absolutely perfect. Hand made by Garrett Blake, I think it will look so chic in our foyer. I'm still waiting for a knob to put it in place. Can't wait!

For the console table I decided to go with simple lines and a bit of texture. Dendro Co let me customize every single detail, so I went with glossy black hairpin legs and a dark walnut top. I haven't received the table yet, but I have to say that working with them was such a bliss. The possibilities are endless! :)

Also, to add some glam to the space I got a pair of that Regina Andrew lamp with a marble base that you can see above (so so beautiful) AND a couple of Jonathan Adler's wall hooks. Both still on the mail... can't wait to get them! <3

And last but not least... WALLPAPER IS UP!!!!!!!!! It's a huge and amazing change in the whole apartment. I love it so much, it seriously gives you a big welcome when you enter the apartment. Also, it was A LOT of work. I'm glad I didn't try it myself. Three doors and a couple of cricked corners are no joke when it comes to wall decor.

So, that's it for now. If you want to see sneak peeks of this space follow me on Instagram or Twitter. I'm constantly posting pictures of my work :) And, this is still on my to do list:

  • camouflage thermostat
  • get some art
  • place mirror on the wall
  • solve bench/ottoman situation
  • figure out final styling

Wish me luck these last weeks! This is almost done!

Thanks so much for passing by! xoxo.
