CREATIVE COLLABORATION - CONTEMPORARY COWGIRL OFFICE

One of the best things about becoming an entrepreneur is the amount of talented and amazing women I've met during my journey. I'm extremely fortunate to be part of this movement, to share and learn from so many creative ladies. One of them is my friend Sadie, whom I met when Splendor Styling was just starting. We worked together on my marketing strategy and her input definitely helped enhancing my performance and business' outreach.

Women should help each other grow.

I can't stress that enough. We grow bigger and stronger if we do it together. Trust me. There is room for everyone at the party and we can all succeed. Sharing your knowledge and talents will get you further. And this is what Sadie and I did :)

A creative collaboration. I needed her marketing knowledge. She needed my design advice. It was perfect! I got to help her with the design of her first office as a home owner. As in many DC homes, the space needed to double as a guest room and as a home office. It needed to be inspiring for daily work; and comfortable enough to welcome friends and host business meetings. We already had some of the right key pieces: a small sofa bed, a glass desk and bookshelves; but we needed to rearrange furniture, get accent pieces to make the space ultra functional, and give it a fun creative character.

Take a look at the results!

BEFORE

CONTEMPORARY COWGIRL OFFICE by Splendor Styling

An old leather stool and a a side table frame the small sofa bed creating the sensation of a living room. Accent pillows and greenery give the space a homey feeling; and a comfy storage bench serves as a coffee table and hides bedding and pillows for when guests arrive ;)

An easy DIY mural was created with two colorful triangles matching the cow art on the opposite wall. Bringing colors from your pieces of art to the walls in the room makes the space look more cohesive and fun! The round mirror gives the wall a final touch reflecting light and colors all around.

This was a happy and fun project. Sadie and I were in touch all the time and constantly discussed ideas through email and text messages. E-decor is the perfect design alternative for busy people! My main advice for her was the one I always give to my clients:

If you fall in love with a piece, buy it! You will always find a way to use it in your decor.

This colorful and funky cow art was love at first sight, and because she loved it so much it ended being the main source of inspiration for the entire design.

I'm very happy about this collaboration and the results! And I'm happy to have this amazing female powerful energy around. My entrepreneur friends are a constant reminder that dreams come true; and that hard work pays off. Thanks for being part of this journey. xx.

CHIC GLAM FOYER - ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

CHIC GLAM FOYER by Splendor Styling

Welcome to Splendor!

I'm very happy to finally share this space with you. The One Room Challenge is a brilliant initiative of Linda from Calling it Home, where 20 bloggers transform a space in only 6 weeks - and everyone can follow along! The creativity and support around it are absolute invaluable! This is my second time participating and I couldn't be happier with the results.

You can see the detail of my progress here, and some before photos that show the huge change in this tiny area. I believe that living in a small space should not be an impediment for living in big style! The entryway gives a first glance of your home's personality, and I definitely wanted this one to be GLAM!

I fell in love with this wallpaper as soon as I saw it online, and even though I was nervous about using it I totally changed my mind when I got the sample. Black and gold is one of my favorite combinations and this one added the perfect amount of glam femininity to the space. To balance it - and avoid giving hubby a heart attack - I decided to go with a very masculine console table with hairpin legs and a black leather equestrian mirror. Looking for the right pieces was a big challenge due to the size of the space, so I decided to contact small manufacturers on Etsy. I had THE BEST experience working with them and got custom and hand-made amazing pieces! I can't thank enough Garrett and Dendro Co for their excellent service.

For accessories I needed to go glam again. I incorporated some texture with a fab marble lamp; and some serious gold with these bull brass hooks by Jonathan Adler. And of course, I placed a faux-fur sheep skin rug for extra coziness. This little space is now functional and gorgeous; AND it's the best spot to place flowers to welcome you home. Oh... and the DIY project I tried. It didn't work as planned so I skipped it.

What do you think?! :) I always love reading your comments and ideas. If you are changing a space at your place and need some help, send me a message or take a look at my services page. I would love to be part of your project!

Thanks so much for passing by! Stay in touch, and stay inspired! xx.

INTERIOR DESIGN - GUEST ROOM & STUDIO

Hola!

I'm writing this post from my old bedroom at my paren't house in Lima. It's crazy when I think of how many times I changed the color of the walls, the decor and obviously the furniture placement. I had DIY clouds over a blush palette; a dark blue ceiling with all constellations in the southern hemisphere made with glow-in-the-dark tiny stars (Oh! the 90s...); and fucsia & silver furniture with a wall of mirrors to make the space look bigger. My love for interior design has accompanied me since I can remember.

And today I'm sharing my latest design at home. Yay! I can't say it's definitive - because design evolves - but I'm pretty happy with the transformation of our spare bedroom which became both our guest bedroom and my personal studio / home office. What do you think?! :)

GUEST ROOM & STUDIO by Splendor Styling

This sofa bed fits perfectly in between our bookshelves. I styled them using books, boxes and baskets to maximize the use of space, and store little things like usb's, stationary, etc. I also placed golden accessories around the room to make it more cohesive, and brighten up the black and white palette.

The desk area is full of light and my favorite leather chair doubles as a desk chair and extra sitting for guests.

These blue velvet pillows were a must and the perfect pop of color. I felt in love with them at first sight, and paired them with brown faux fur ones, and a white and gold I painted myself. The horse wall art was also an immediate crush. You can never go bad with horses in your decor.

I kept the TV in the room only for when we have people over. So, on a regular basis it's camouflaged by art and favorite pieces standing on top of the biggest storage unit we have at home.

This leather bench is fantastic to store sheets and towels, and it doubles as a coffee table. I placed a tray and some flowers on top of it and it's ready to welcome a couple of cocktails for guests.

I spend a lot of time in here working on my business, writing on the blog and creating new projects. It's definitely a very personal space for me and I LOVE IT!

Many people asked me for before and after pictures, so I'll be working on that these days. More to come, people! Gracias por visitar mi site! Thanks so much for passing by.

You all rock! xx.
