Home Tour - Christmas 2014

Hello everyone!

I'm so happy to share these pictures with you today. This is officially the first Home Tour I make of our apartment! Yay! As you know, we moved into a new place a couple of months ago; and unpacking and decorating the space for the first time can be a BIG challenge. Suddenly, it was the Holiday Season and obviously I wanted to enjoy it properly. So, no time for doubts or elaborated ideas. I wanted to have a basic layout - which is definitely going to change from time to time - defined spaces and room for entertaining and enjoying the winter.

And here it is! Take a look at our house looking all Christmasy and cute :)

These are all pieces that we brought with us. I like to take my time when getting new furniture. Already have a general idea of some basic changes - like getting rid of this brown couch and replacing the coffee table - but I'll take my time to find the perfect ones for the space.

Oh! Meet owl - the star of Christmas 2014!

Our dining area is small and functional. It is next to the open kitchen and the bar, so it becomes our guests' favorite spot. Everyone wants to be around the food and drinks, right?

Our bar cabinet found its perfect spot against this dark wall. Having our favorite whisky displayed and ready to enjoy is such a treat when coming home after a long day at work. Also, the hubby's favorite art piece makes this space look a bit masculine. I LOVE how this DC map looks in here; and that surface is one of my favorites to style.

Christmas touch --> Poinsettias and Candy Canes!

Our second bedroom is a mix of a guest room and my studio. Remember the pictures of my desk I posted last week? Well, it changed. A lot!

We finally got a sofa bed, so I moved the bookcases to its sides to create more balance. I love symmetry! Also, that rug is like my favorite thing in the world! Don't you love it?? I promise to post a complete before and after very soon so you can see the complete transformation.

I like my Holiday decor to be subtle and camouflage with other accessories. So, no snowmen for us, or and explosion of red accessories. I prefer to add some simple touches that I can easily peel off when the season is over.

In here, I hanged a simple wreath with burlap, added candy, candles and more poinsettias because they are awesome!

Christmas lights? OBVIOUSLY! They look fab in here and will make a nice photo background during our holiday gatherings - I totally stole this idea from my friends in Lima who always use them at their parties :) (Holaaaa!!)

What do you think? I'm very proud of myself for having completely unpacked and decorated the house in less than 5 months! Phewwww! Tons of work, and much more to be done. Decoration is never over! <3

Thanks so much for passing by and leave your comments! I LOVE hearing from you. Seriously. It's so amazing when we connect and share ideas. So, keep in touch! Visit my Instagram or Facebook page or send me a note :) I'm a friend. Let's go for coffee.

Happy Holidays, y'all! Besos!

HOLIDAY TABLE SET UP

One of my favorite things to do during the Holidays is to play hostess. Have friends over for drinks, dinner, party times. Anything! This is the time of the year when no one questions if you use your favorite china WITH christmas ornaments, gold accessories, flowers and actually go over the top! Because, you know... WHY NOT?! It's time to celebrate!

This set up happened in a random morning - maybe a Tuesday at 8ish am when I felt like playing with some pretty stuff and pretend I had a fancy dinner happening that night! - Just having the table set up made me want to throw a party and have friends over. Talking about inspiration... you can always create it yourself! :)

I put together this table using pieces of my favorite china and the one I use daily over a silk purple placemat.

TIP: Mix and match pieces for a more interesting and personal look!

Black and white are my go-to colors! Gold and silver accents were added with shiny flatware, a gold napkin holder and jingle bells! Everything accentuated with gold sprigs, and why not? a piece of my favorite chocolate. What do you think?

I can't get enough of the Holidays and its beauty! and I take every opportunity to play with it - I even made my business cards part of this set up - and I really hope you have a WONDERFUL TIME creating, decorating and celebrating the Holiday Season.

One Room Challenge - Week III

Hi everyone!

It's Thursday again and it's time for some One Room Challenge update! To be honest, I didn't know I was going to be thinking of it 24/7. I didn't know I was capable of creating SO MANY projects for just one room in my house. It's been an amazing experience so far - exhausting, yes! - but oh so inspiring :) We are now in week 3 and I'm seriously calculating which things I can accomplish and which ones would have to wait a little longer.

Phew! So, here we go, this is what I accomplished this week. Take a look!

Oh yes! I have a bed!!! It was a scary week as I received my dream bed and it was a different color. I contacted One Kings Lane and they were amazing! They totally understood the situation and how a change of color on my headboard was going to compromise my whole project. After negotiating, I got a pretty decent discount I could't reject. And here it is!

I paired it with small wooden nightstands I found at World Market and chic lamps in black from Wayfair to bring some masculine vibes to the room. The space is very small but this combo works perfectly! I'm thinking I will accessorize with gold (obviously) and natural colors and fabrics.

Still trying to decide what to do with the off-centered window though...

I felt in love with this chair and place it in the only empty corner in the bedroom. The space is big enough to create a reading nook or chilling area as I like to call it :) For now, I'm using a white rug that was in my studio, and added this side table that I spray painted gold because, you know? why not?! The plant is just a representation of what I really want to accomplish, but to be honest, I've moved things from that corner like 10 times now.

Oh yes! mirror is up! Yay! I'm loving how it looks and it makes me want to paint the whole wall in a dark color so badly! The dresser is lacking proper styling, but you get an idea of the space. And there's me, taking a picture of it all at 7:00am in the morning - without coffee. Unacceptable.

Alsooooo, I started another of my DIY projects for this room. I bought two of these flower prints to reuse their frames. I finally opened them carefully and removed the posters inside. Now is painting time! I hope it turns out as awesome as it looks in my head.

So, that's it for week 3! And I'm really nervous about my TO DO list these days - which also keeps changing by the hour? haha! luckily it's written on pencil. Wish me luck guys! There are so many things I want to accomplish still, and I'm LOVING all your comments and likes and support! This is all truly amazing <3

Thanks so much for passing by! Love you all! xx!
